Hovering above the fields…

Any ideas? A buzzard? I’m so spectacularly un-talented when it comes to identifying birds in the air!

    From the shape and you description of hovering I would say a kestrel. If it was not hovering it will be another bird of a similar size such as a falcon, merlin or harrier. Buzzards have a much bigger wingspan and have feathers at the end of the wing like ‘fingers’ their body is much broader and they don’t hover but soar, flying without moving their wings.
