Rhododendrons in June

The photo in the last post was taken on the walk below (towards the end of June).  Knowing that the rhododendrons would be flowering, and not wanting to miss them in the short window of sunshine amongst the weeks of rain we’ve had, we set out across the fields by our house.
The shrubs offer great exploring possibilities – a warren of hidey-holes and potential dens exist beneath the foliage and Nin and Ted love exploring.
More pinkey-purple from foxgloves growing amongst the ferns at the base of the rhododendrons.
More pink/purple in the form of orchids (?) hidden in the long grass.
A lovely little white pansy.
And speedwell – so small, simple and a beautiful blue.
And simple roses climbing all over the place – I love the flowers of summer.
Oh and it appears that the weather listened to my plea, the next day there was sunshine and has been since!  Summer has returned (if only for a little while).
