CPSIA – Save Handmade Toys in the USA

Just resurfacing briefly to post regarding the Consumer Product Safety Inspection Act (CPSIA) in the USA that will affect items made for children under the age of 12 in the USA (and items imported into and then sold in the USA) and will put many small, cottage industries out of business 😦

Allsorts has made a pretty comprehensive post about this and is far more knowledgeable than I, so please visit her blog to find out more.

Just wanted to pop my head over the parapet because it will affect so many people whose work I admire.

I’m so concerned about this new law. It just boggles my mind how incredibly short sighted the writers of this bill were! I have written letters to my representatives.

I read about this somewhere a couple of weeks ago. It’s awful and so stupid. Hopefully the new president will knock some sense into these ignorant idiots!!

It is SO worrying, it really feels like the world of hand made is REALLY taking off and the word is spreading via Etsy & Blogs etc and to be honest we were a little slower here in the UK & now this might happen 😦

Thanks for addressing the CPSIA. We have been working hard to bring awareness to consumers and politicians alike. It is a huge tragedy to lose the work of so many crafters, and small manufacturers. We are losing them with each passing day.
