I made some shorts!

Really impressed with myself as this is the first time I’ve made a successful piece of clothing using a sewing machine. It’s not my favourite fabric, but I daren’t make a start on the lovely Heather Ross (I think it’s by Heather Ross) fabric I have without practising a bit first:

It was hard to get a decent picture of them as Ted didn’t really want to stay posing.

Most of the photos were like this:

I used a cut-down trouser pattern, it worked out just fine πŸ™‚

I’ve been doing that for years ;0)

That’s part of the problem and the yearning but not the machine skills… I used to sew bits for myself by hand as a teen (included reconstructed clothes) – I was into psychobilly (still am) and favoured leopard spots (well, spots in general) etc. I have a chip in my front tooth from pulling a needle through denim with my teeth (making a fishtail skirt out of an old pair of jeans).

Four children isn’t conducive to sewing much be hand though, but I’ve not ever really used a machine before, hence the shorts are a big deal for me (and the sewing is straight ;0)
